It was my wife’s idea. To sketch outside. She may even have fantasized doing it alone. But she told me. Big mistake cause I got all excited which meant I opened my big mouth to the kids and so soon it was a whole family thing.
Standing or sitting in the frigid wind, facing the trees that frame the inlet that leads to the lake. Like the Group of Seven we were, out there in nature, sketching away, except there were four of us, of two cultures and rather varied ages.
It was not a competition and yet the clear winner (pictured above) was like Emily Carr neither male nor a member of the Group of Seven proper.
