Pachinko Author Min Jin Lee's Struggle to Get Published

At the back of the paperback edition of Pachinko (a National Book Award finalist novel I highly recommend) is a preview of Min Jin Lee’s first novel, Free Food for Millionaires. The essay below, on the brutal struggle an author so often faces in publishing their first book, was written by the author in honour of her debut’s 10th anniversary. As one still mired in that struggle, I never tire of reading such things, and wanted to share with those of you who find nourishment in similar fare.
