Dispatches from the County VII: Snow Squalls

Whiteout conditions. Severe warnings. The kind of day you’d briefly consider tying your little ones down, if you sent them out at all.

We weren’t going anywhere. The weather constant, hitting up against our cottage windows that saturday.

It didn’t let up, not the whole hibernating day, even mid-afternoon when it was oddly bright behind an overcast sky, and wonderfully quiet indoors, the noisiest creatures finally allowed to watch something upstairs. Mama bear was at the dining table, work to do. papa bear sat and read his book by the fire.

the snow kept on keepin on, whipping up something fierce outside. inside it was cozy and warm.
