The pond is covered in snow today, but the winter thus far having been so mild has made it impossible for us to venture out much across the ice.
As we can’t walk across the lake just yet, nor can we travel by canoe, our only route out is the “lane” that is the dirt road connecting our lakeside cottage with the country highway nearby. My kids like to step or jump on the ice that forms above the little puddles in the pot holes that riddle the lane. I tend to step rather than jump to crack the ice. It is very satisfying.
